Monoprice Maker Pro Linear Guideway Project
Over the summer, I started a project to upgrade the linear travel system of one of the large scale 3D printers in UB's Design Studio. I received funding to develop a proposal to upgrade the linear travel system by installing linear guideways on the extruder gantry and the print bed.
I am supervising an interdisciplinary team of four people to design and manufacture linear guide rail adapters on SolidWorks in order to make the MonoPrice Maker Pro fully functioning again. I have fully modeled the extruder gantry of the printer in SolidWorks. We are evaluating the efficiency of an already existing adapter by performing stress analysis using Creo-Simulate and are planning to redesign the model as needed. We are 3D printing prototype models for our original designs, and are going to machine the final designs out of aluminum. I have also begun creating an functioning assembly of the Monoprice printer on SolidWorks in order to better diagnose problems, if they arise.

Digital Manufacturing Lab: 3D Printed Car Contest
I participated in a semester-long workshop in UB's Digital Manufacturing Lab (DML) on the fundamentals of additive manufacturing, and received certification in additive manufacturing through the DML. I learned the fundamentals of SLA and FDM printing while actively applying these concepts to hands on workshop projects. My final project consisted of designing a 3D printable car that was then fitted with a miniature C02 tank for a race among students participating in the workshop. I acted as the lead designer in my group, and utilized t-spline modeling on Fusion 360 to design a fully 3D printable car assembly. I went over 15 iterations to make my design as visually pleasing, while keeping the car as fast as possible.

Retractable Umbrella Project
I participated in a semester long project to design a retractable umbrella device for an elderly woman to use with walker. I was placed in charge as the lead designer on the project, and learned the fundamentals of user-centered product design. I created CAD models in Fusion 360 for the umbrella attachment to the walker, and prototyped five iterations of the design through 3D printing. I collaborated with the customer to collect end user data on ease of use and evaluate device efficiency. I also documented and gathered all the data on the project into an end of the semester report on our project.

Personal Projects
Things that I made and printed on my personal printer for my own interests. I am a big fan of marvel movies, and have modeled an Avengers plaque. I printed a bust of spider-man, painted it, and now proudly display it in my room. I have created functional things for daily life as well. Currently, I'm designing a tool holder for a functional hammer that I manufactured in the machine shop. The tool holder will hold my hammer, screwdrivers, and the other tools that I use regularly in my personal tinkering.
